Are the Cubs/White Sox and Mets/Yankees the only current crosstown rivals in professional baseball?

Yes, the next closest matchup would be the Oakland-SF across the bay.

The angels and dodgers are kind of crosstown rivals, but the angels are technecly the l.a. angels of anehiem, so not all the way.
other than cubs/sox and yankees/mets there are no other real rivals.

Sound as though you are having a "Mid Life Crisis" It will pass eventually - with luck! My home team has only ever had a few fleeting moments of real success, and, after a run of poor performances, I often say to myself - "Thats it! I am not supporting them any more!" But I always eventually start sneaking a look at how they fared in their last match, and where they stand in the table. A really good performance - and I am back on board! I am sure I will always support my home team, in mind and spirit, no matter where I finish up. Thats what being a true supporter is all about!

the rest BIG rivals are same state or close to the same state (red sox/yanks)

Technically I guess Angels/Dodgers sort of are. The rest of the rivalries are same state but not city.

Battle for the silver boot (houston astros vs. arlington rangers)
is pretty heated up. Oakland vs SF, LAD vs LAA, and the FISh battle.( FLorida vs. tampa bay.) KC vs. STL is not mentioned as much, but they still hate eachother.
