Hi, your verb should be plural in this sentence because your subject is a plural collective noun. "Variety" is a collective noun referring to "accommodations"; therefore, because "accommodations" is plural, "variety" is also plural and requires the plural verb "allow" in order to be grammatically correct. Your sentence should read as follows: "A variety of accommodations allow families to choose living arrangements that suit their needs."
