Why does whoever took her think it's okay to take a child? Look, these parents are going through utter hell right now and they must be kicking themselves. They won't have done anything that they didn't feel was okay. You are not Madeleleine's mother: you don't know what the situation was exactly. They didn't just think, "Ha ha, we don't care about these kids, we'll leave them on their own for ages and make them scared". Parents make mistakes. No parent is perfect, and what they did was certainly not an inhuman crime. Right now I think we should be rooting for them, not pointing the finger. It's not them who have kidnapped a child.

PS My parents did the same when I was younger, and many other parents besides. With hindsight, everyone is suddenly saying this is evil.

You can't be with your kids 24 hours a day.

You don't go on holiday thinking someone may break into your hotel room and take anything never mine your child.

They did what any parent would have done. It could have happened while they were in the room but went into the bathroom for 5 minutes. Then what would you have said, they shouldn't have gone to the bathroom?

There have been sightings in Malta now so maybe she has been kidnapped and is still alive, we live in hope.

Why is this in zoology?

Mother animals leave there young all the time to hunt. Well, most of them do. Penguins won't leave a nest until the chicks hatch. Cheetahs park their cubs in places of safety while they hunt.

Lions and canids have a pack, so they have built in babysitting. The alpha dog will go hunting with lower dogs and the alpha b*tch or a lower female will care for the cubs.

You know, I agree. If those kids had been injured in say, a fire, the parents would be arrested. What kind of parent leaves children in a hotel room alone? My heart aches for what they are going through, but I honestly think they used the poorest judgment.

Definetly not. They should have been more diligent. I know the resort and they could have taken the children to the restaurant with them or had their evening meal delivered to their apartment, and the baby minding service is excellent, why didn't they use it? If they'd have left them alone in the UK, Social Services would have come down on them like a ton of bricks. Don't think it was the first time they'd done it.

Please people, can you just put some prospective on this.
These poor people are going through hell right now and I for one am fed up of all the self-righteous people out there who seem to want to blame the parents and feel it`s somehow there own fault.

It is not.. There is some filthy scumbag out there who broke into a locked room and abducted this poor child.
Lets find her first and deal with the scum who perpetrated this before we go pointing fingers.

Oh and by the way I would not leave my kids alone, but that's my choice.

All you thumbs down morons out there... Do you have no compassion for this missing child? Do you not think that we should find this child first and then deal with her parents later?
I hope to God that nothing like this ever happens to you.
Blame culture? Finger pointing? Yes that's the society we live in today. What happened to rallying around to our friends & neighbours when the sh1t hits the fan?

Yes the parents were idiots to do as they did, but it does not change the fact that there are vermin-like scumbags out there willing to prey on our children.

Question: How many of you out there leave your kids in the car (even for a minuite) to pay for petrol or run into a shop etc.. Do you let your children walk to school alone?

My point is that we cannot physically look at our children 24/7, so when is it ok for them to be out of sight?

I hope & prey that they find her soon. THEN we can deal with her idiot parents.

No one said it was right - but it's happened - what gets me is that they are educated people who made a stupid mistake - if it wasn't for their ability at raising publicity etc then Maddie wouldn't still be in the headlines - shame on them for leaving her unattended but all credit for their efforts since - hope they find her - and soon

Why exactly are you asking this in zoology? and why are you still asking it all? Its old news and been done to death. No-one thinks they were right to do- but we have all just got on with what is happening next in the world.

I think it was disgusting for those parents to leave those young children on their own, and have you noticed that not a lot has been said about it? You do not just put your kids to bed then go out for a meal, there is no excuse for it. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I certainly don't know where you get this information from. Most people that I speak to and most of the answers on here put the blame for the disappearance of this child squarely on the shoulders of these disgusting, self centred apologies for parents
