The issue is that my boyfriend's family is extremely wealthy, and his family is so intact. Besides, my boyfriend is a graduate of Ivy.

On the other hand, my family is not that rich (my father's business is going bad), and my parents recently got divorced. My mom has serious depression which she got from taking care of her brother who has mental illness...

If you were the mother of my boyfriend, would you be concerned about letting your son marry someone with unfortunate background like me? Or would you be ok as long as your son is happy.

Your comments will be appreciated.

If I was his mother I would want him to be happy. It wouldn't matter to me your less-than-fortunate background - as long as you were good to him. :)

Are you getting married? Have you been asked or is this just wishful thinking? Sometimes it's just better to cross a bridge when you come to it!

Do you project the things of your family onto yourself? If not, then this shouldn't be a problem. Families go through bad times, that doesn't mean they are bad families. Hold your head up and things will get better.

Good luck!

I have a son, and to be honest yes I would sit him down and have a serious talk with him about her family. But if he loved her of course I want him to be happy, so I would give my blessing and welcome her into my family with open arms. But the one thing I would suggest would be a prenup, if she loved them as much as she says she does then she shouldn't have a problem signing it.

I would insist on spending a lot of time with you to see what your character is like. I would expect a prenup though.

I'd want my son to be happy. I'd be interested in you, not your family's problems.
