Budget got upped and I switched websites. Here's my new "shopping list" for the new rig I'm getting. Does it all work together with a Celeron D processor, 2G of memory, a floppy drive, a CD drive, and a nice big hard drive? Do I NEED a sound card, or can it run sound without one?

You do need a sound card, but the motherboard you have picked out has one built in.

Everything looks good except the CPU. I would go with at least a Pent 4 duel core. The Cel is ok for general computing but my slow down the graphics in some of todays game and web sites. If your gona spend the bucks for a good board and vid card, go for a good processor too.

Good luck with your new machine.

Your computer will run fine with everything but it will run slow with a celeron processor. Im a AMD guy but if u go with intel get at least a P4 or a Core 2 Dual.

It should work with a Celeron D. The socket type is LGA 775. The motherboard has its own onboard sound so you do not need an extra soundcard.
