Befor getting too funky with re-builds and new motors, do the simple things first!!
If I were you, go and order youself the best read for your machine, the manual!!
This will not only help you with your problem, but if you need to strip stuff down, you can do it correctly.
If it's bogging down, you need to consider what rpm you are at when it does this as you you can narrow it down to fuelling, but not until you check everything that affects the fuelling, like your air filter, spark plug gap. If these are fine look at your reed valve. Whilst the carb is off, drain it and do a mild strip to it looking for dirt and water.
With a new manual in hand you can re-check your fueling by looking in your manual and go through the process.

Trust me I have a YZ 250 06 model. Download a manual from the internet as well, I have one in digital format.

If you are having trouble finding it you can e-mail me at: troyleanne@yahoo.com.au

Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.
Most likely, low compression.
When was the last time the top end was rebuilt?
Check the compression.
OR
Remove the exhaust pipe and look in the exhaust port with a flash light and mirror.
If there is any scoring of the piston and cylinder, or dis-coloration below the rings, rebuild the top end.
Depending on the year, if it has power valves, make sure they move freely (they get carboned up and stick).

The powervalve may be sticking shut, the spark plug may be junk, the jetting may be lean, carb may need to be cleaned, the fuel line could be partially plugged. I would check the plug first. The powervalve is the most likely culprit, but isn't a guarentee.
