Chauncey Billups is the ideal move for Cleveland. Financially, trading Ilgauskas (10 million in 07-08) or Hughes (12 million) with a first round pick would clear space to offer Billups almost a maximum offer.
Secondly, on the court Billups provides the veteran leadership lacking from a young roster. With the exception of Lebron nobody hits big shots. Chauncey has shown time after time, as in the Finals and in last years playoffs, that he plays big in big games.
Lastly, Billups is most likely to leave Detroit with an aging core of players. With Big Ben already being missed, Rasheed is on his way out. In contrast Cleveland is starting their run. It is unlikely Boston or Chicago would help Clevelend. Instead Chauncey may easily make mad money, secure future Finals appearances, and create the most potent tandem in the East since Jordan/Pippen.

They better get someone to help Lebron, I like the Ray Allen idea there is no more pure shooter in the game today. Kobe isn't going to happen & I don't think Cleveland has been in the KG talks. Paul Pierce I don't know about him & Lebron Paul always seems to have some injuries. Chauncey would be great & the other name that came up was Mike Bibby. Also maybe Jermaine O'neal or Rashard Lewis.

I DONT KNOW HOW AND WHY PEOPLE WOULD THINK RAY ALLEN OR PAUL PIERCE WOULD BE COMING TO CLEVELAND. THAT MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE PAUL AND LEBRON PLAY ALMOST THE SAME POSITION AND PAUL IS THE FACE OF THE CELTICS FRANCHISE AND DANNY AINGE WANTS HIM TO WORK WITH AL JEFFERSON. I KNOW YOU PROBLY HERE AL JEFFERSON IS GETTING TRADED TOO BUT HES NOT BECAUSE HIM AND PAUL PIERCE COULD MAKE A REAL NICE DUO 2 YEARS FROM NOW. BOTH OF THEM ARE UN-TOUCHABLE WHEN IT COMES TO BEING TRADED. AND AS FOR RAY ALLEN, HE WOULDNT MAKE ANY SENSE EITHER BECAUSE THE SONICS ARE MOST LIKELY GOING TO DRAFT KEVIN DURANT AND A DURANT AND RAY ALLEN DUO WOULD BE REALLY GREAT. DURANT IS GOING TO LEARN FROM ALLEN. SO THE SONICS ARE NOT GONNA TRADE HIM EITHER. WHAT WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE IS TO MAKE AN OFFER TO SACRAMENTO IN ORDER TO GET MIKE BIBBY. THE CAVS NEED A GOOD VETERAN POINT GUARD THAT CAN ACTUALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE, ERIC SNOW ISNT GOING TO CUT IT! IF THEY DECIDE TO DO THIS, THEY CAN OFFER LARRY HUGHES AND BIG Z TO SACRAMENTO FOR MIKE BIBBY. THEY MIGHT TAKE IT. AND IF THEY CANT DO THAT THEN MAYBE THEY CAN TRY TO SIGN CHAUNCY BILLUPS TO WORK WITH LEBRON. BUT TRADING FOR PAUL PIERCE OR RAY ALLEN DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE WHATSO EVER BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT BEING SHOPPED ON THE TRADING BLOCK AND ALL 3 OF THEM PLAY ALMOST THE SAME POSITION OF A GUARD/FORWARD (RAY ALLEN IS MOSTLY A GUARD) AND THE DUO WOULD NOT WORK OUT WITH LEBRON BEING THE BALL HOG HE IS. SO THEY NEED A POINT GUARD THAT CAN HELP LEBRON SCORE AND WHAT NOT. THEY DONT NEED ANOTHER BIG STAR WHO CAN ALSO SCORE BIGTIME AND DOMINATE THE GAME!!

They don't need a superstar. There is only 1 ball to go around and Lebron gets it. Do you honestly think Kobe or KG would want to share the spot light with Lebron or Lebron would want to share it with someone else?
They do need a solid player who is willing to be the 2nd guy like Pippen was with the Bulls.

the easiest thing to do would be to get chauncey billups because all of the other teams are going to want alot in return for their star players. I mean it would take like 5 guys to equal what kobe makes for money and what he can do.

They will definitely find a better second option. It is very unlikely that Kobe would go to Cleveland, but that would be a hell of a tandem if they could coexist. I think Ray Allen would be a good pick. They really need a proven shooter.

The only problem I see with them getting another superstar is that they really don't have a lot of chips to bargain with. Varejao is a good energy player and rebounder, but nowhere near the upper echelon of forwards in the league. Pavlovic has shown glimpses of being good, but his shot selection and effort can be questioned. It just seems to me like they need a backcourt scorer (like the guys you mentioned) and in order to do that they'd have to ship off Larry Hughes, who's been a major disappointment, to seal the deal.
