I don't and if you look at the really long answers they usually have tons of thumbs downs.

i choose to read these long winded questions when the writer has a problem or question that has peaked my interst or is something that i have myself experienced at one time or another and i feel that my experience may help somebody else. some times the questions actually have additional info attached that is pertinent to answering the question clearly. on the other hand , when a person asks a question and gets those really long responses, i sometimes just skip completely over those answers because whoever the poor soul was that obviuosly had nothing better to do this morning than counsel another poor soul probably doesn't know what the heck he is talking about in the first place and for all intanse purposes has probably lost track of what the original question was and may not even have the social skills necesary to properly handle another persons dilema anyway.
so yeah, i know what you mean, people are crazy... Lunatics, ya know =)) lol

I usually don't read the super long answers, unless they're to a question I've asked.
I sometimes leave an answer, but then when I see it posted, it is MUCH longer than I thought. I don't usually edit it down, because what am I going to edit out? That's how I feel.
I've also been known to ask a really long question. That usually happens when I have a question in there somewhere, but for some reason feel inclined to rattle on and on with some details.
I sometimes read the long questions, unless they're bashing or ranting.

Heck no! I won't read anything longer than a paragraph. I don't know why people INSIST on writing an autobiography when we just want their simple opinion! It's almost insulting, as if they think that we have nothing better to do than read their inane point-of-view. Do they think that writing all of that extra (superfluous) information makes their points more valid or 'point-worthy'?
I'm also against long questions (yours wasn't too long, but you know of the ones that I mean). Do these people need to be so verbose? How much back-story is needed to poll a bunch of over-opinionated strangers?
Regardless, I'll just reiterate that too many people take a good 7 word answer and stretch it out over several paragraphs. They should all be sent back to High School English and retaught the word 'concise'!

I usually read the question all the way through. It is very good sometimes when someone is trying to find a song and they put everything they know like male or female....lyrics...genre.
The answers are touch and go. If it is a serious well thought out answer then I read it so I can give it a thumbs up. If it is an immature answer then I usually just skim or skip it.

sure, someone does. But then, in this world of superficiality, who expects the majority to do so? Personally, I find it a sign of the times that most of the questions and answers are so trite as to suggest that no one out there is putting any thought into any aspect of their lives. It is a sad commontary that our society has become so rushed that intelligfent thought is discouraged... This is an interesting line of thought. Unfortunately, this answer is long enough that very few will read it...

Sometimes...if I get lost within the first few sentences, I'll scan the rest :P And I know, I posted a long question! Sorry! But I wanted opinions on many things haha

Long questions: it depends. If the person is writing clearly and using correct grammer, spelling, etc. (we all make typos, I'm not talking about that) then yes, I will keep reading. As long as what they are saying is relavent and interesting, I will read the whole thing.
Long answers: God no. If it seems halfway decent I will skim it. But if someone has that much to say, they are just pontificating.

I try to read questions. Sometimes, they are all one run on sentence. Sometimes all one paragraph. Sometimes filled with txt talk. Often misspelled.
If someone is seriously asking something important, I try to figure out the gist of it, and answer if I can.
I often pass the long answers right by, unless, of course, it is someone's answer to a question that I'd asked. Will read it all then.

Depends on the question. When someone goes on and on about some lost love and how to get them back, I ignore it. But some questions deserve an honest answer. Like this one.

Isn't the point of this to read someon'es question, get to the heart of it, and respond? That is what I do. I try to be selective about what I answer because of my interests and expertise, so it isn't too much time to actually read and give a thoughtful response.
