with a pencil, especially an HB or softer one.
I also have a better hand writing when I use a gel pen, and some of the thicker ball pens.

A teacher once told me my writing was like anaemic spiders walking across the page, but generally speaking a pen with an italic nib can improve your writing, whereas a pencil allows you more freedom of expression - depends what you're after.

pencil! i love pencil. i'm probably the only person in my class at school who writes in mosly pencil. sometimes i like to take a break and use a blue pen, but i dont really like black. liquid felts are cool though. but pencil is the best for me. i guess i'm just used to it. i also hate when ink smudges. but pens are good for signing birthday cards etc

Much better with a pen....real pen with a nib. Try to hold it gently between first finger and thumb and keep your finger as straight as possible. You can't write with a fist.

I always try to use a fountain pen. Unfortunately not all surfaces will accept it, likewise if there is more than one copy, the ball pen is essential.
