The actual writing of a work of non-fiction, if you already know everything you are going to say and can quickly organize how you are going to say it, could take as little as a few days (and lots of coffee!). I know that you are asking about non-fiction, but two of my friends who write novels wrote a novel in the Tom Swift series (about 35,000 words, so a short book) over the weekend because the publisher needed the book immediately and another writer had flaked out. Certainly they could have done the same with non-fiction if they were writing about something they knew well.
However, many non-fiction books require a lot of research, and organizing the material that you have researched takes time, too. Many full-time professional writers (fiction or non-fiction) try to keep up a pace of a book a year. So ten months is certainly possible, even for a part-time writer. It's also possible, though, that the book you thought would take ten months will end up taking more time and requiring more revisions than you thought.
Which reminds me that I'm supposed to be working on my book right now instead of answering questions!

I desire non-fiction to fiction. probably 5, yet i'm this way of nerd and then some million or 2 fiction books in accordance with who the warm author is of the month. in many cases unknowns that are merely being chanced on or one hit wonders. I watch various discovery and that i've got chanced on books on tape are a spectacular thank you to trip even to and from artwork.

If you write what happens in your life daily, that's a non fictional book. And you probably won't spend more that 15 minutes a day doing so, or about 2 hours a week!!

I have written non-fiction books in about two months to two years. It depends upon the book and circumstances. I was delayed much by bad luck on one book when I had 3 days of kidney surgery and then was too sore and weak for three months to sit at my computer. Next, my floppy disc crashed. Luckily I had some prints of some parts I had typed and scanned them. I wondered if I would ever finish that book. OOps, I forgot one book with hundreds of illustrations I did. I worked nine years on it...but not continuously. I had other projects.

sure, if you get on it and do your research. it can be done, but the question really is if someone can write a GOOD non fiction book in 10 months?

It has been done in a single month. National Novel Writing Month (which is in November) has people from around the nation writing a book in a single month; some of the sucessful contestants have even gone on to publish their work (though not all have).

I'm sure it's been done. But when you write a book, just sit and write. Allow it to take as much or as little time as it needs. That way you'll come up with the best end product.

If you already have the theme in mind its possible to write it overnight. But if you are a slow writer and not yet sure about what you want to write about then I'll suggest that you should make a routine and stick to it. Cause otherwise you won't be able to finish it on time.

Why not? So much depends on your motives, your interest level, your ability, your insightfulness about the subject. Writing is a very solitary endeavor and like anything else in this world how much effort are you willing to put in? Good luck if you go for it.

I do not see why not, the amount of research still needed I would imagine would be the biggest obstacle.
