Can you give me examples of subordination, exploitation, oppression, and discrimination of women?

Subordination - I tell my wife to make me a sandwich. She does because she knows what happens when she doesn't obey.

Exploitation - See above.

Oppression - The wife doesn't go out while I go out. She has to stay home to tend the kids, dinner, and the house.

Discrimnation - The wife also doesn't get to use the tv. She's a female, and will therefor attempt to watch Oprah, Oxygen, or WEtv. Thus, she has no control of the remote when I am in close proximity to the television.

Mind you - these are all interlaced. Congruent.

Subordination - Relegating women to subordinate roles. The constant barrage of platitudes thrown at "feminists". The gender caste-structure. Men (the power structure) like subordinate women. They run off with their secretaries, not their bosses or colleagues. Female infidelity is not treated in the same manner as male infidelity. Example: The language is structured to demean women and stroke the collective male ego.

Exploitation - Pornography. Housewives and mothers considered "non-working" and treated as second-class citizens, as if they make no contribution (or lesser contribution) to society. Valuing a woman's beauty above brains - and structuring the society around it (leads to oppression and the indoctrination of young women into the mind-set that their worth is based solely on their looks). Example: Girls Gone Wild

Oppression - The fight against reproductive rights. The overwhelming societal distaste for women having a choice regarding their desire to have a family. Catch-22 - they're cheapened if they do, they're cheapened if they don't. Violence against women. Example: Criminalized prostitution. A highly used service. Acceptable for men - criminal for women.

Discrimination - Women in professional and related occupations earned almost 32% less than their male counterparts. (Pay-equity.org) Single mothers have the most difficult time, economically, than any other group in the nation. They are discriminated against when seeking employment because of the demands they must meet. Gender-bias in health care. Politics. Examples: Costco, Wal-Mart, Morgan Stanley - have all been involved in lawsuits actively discriminating against the promotion of women.

Subordination - the forcing of women in Iran or Saudi Arabia to cover their heads (it should be a choice, even in Islam)

Exploitation - the human trafficking of millions of women, especially from Eastern Europe - tricking them into thinking they're going West for modeling or something, then forcing them into prostitution.

Oppression - Women not being allowed to vote, in say Kuwait. Or women not being allowed to go outside without a male escort in KSA.

Discrimination - in the United States, women are often paid less for doing the same jobs as men. This is discrimination based on gender.

I'd say the most common area women are "oppressed" in western society is in the area of the care of very young children. As for discrimination, attractive women benefit from positive discrimination and less attractive women at least don't benefit from discrimination.

cooking breakfast for their husbands. EXPLOITATION

not able to get a job. (Full Stop) DISCRIMINATION

Getting the same pay for less work. OPPRESSION

posing naked for magazines like playboy.
Even though it's their own choice, its still exploitation OK!!??

Having to wear sexy clothes for tennis tournaments, golf, pool.
EXPLOITED for sex, and men's viewing pleasure

Domestic violence: Women seem to be of at a disadvantage here since they tend have less physical strength than men. But they have more options in getting support from helplines , and more often than not viewed as the victim even if both man and woman are equally at fault, which is an unfortunate stereotype.
Lower salary: it might be true, on a person to person basis , that women are paid less than men. But most should note that it is illegal for companies to practice this discrimination, and more often than not, statistics are skewed to make it appear that women are making much less than men. Also, single women on average make more than single men. Women also get pregnant, and are unable to work during that period of time, and are allowed long periods of maternity leave.
