Truman had 3 choices when dealing with the blockade. Leave it, invade it, and an airlift. Invading would have lead to another World War and giving in would have led to Stalin becoming the next hitler. The airlift was the only option and a very smart one.

I must say Harry Truman is one of my favourite American Presidents...he really did weigh this one out and found one of the best possible paths. The US commander in Berlin, Clay, wanted to drive a line of armored tanks through to West Berlin and had orders to fire if anyone impeded, but Truman knew that this was a possibly inflammatory action. Truman instead researched the possibilities of an airlift, they found the best guy to do the job, and got their allies behind it.
The Soviets lifted their blockade within a year. The people of West Berlin got their food and supplies, and the allies did it without use of force. Berlin was still cut off to a great degree, though, and it took them a while to reap the benefits that the Marshall Plan and a free market economy were giving to West Germany. The State Department would eventually rectify that throughout the 50s. But I am not sure if there was an effective way they could have brought that prosperity to West Berlin earlier. I think the Berlin Airlift was just about the best way to support the city without exacerbating the Soviets.

Yes I agree with the decision for the Berlin airlift, and even if he hadn't agreed to, the RAF probably would have anyway.
The blockade was Stalin's attempt to taunt the West, and he needed to be confronted.

Yes, I agree. Considering the way things worked out it is one time that such an action really bore fruit. The world is allot better place because of it.

Yes. It not only solved the problem with minimum threat to peace but informed the Soviets of American determination. ~

Time to do your own homework, my dear. People on this site are history buffs, not answer people for teenage homework.
