The liberals at CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, etc.. refuse to wear American Flag lapel pins.

Fox anchor Brit Hume once famously said, "Over at ABC News, where the wearing of American flag lapel pins is banned, Peter Jennings and his team have devoted far more time to the coverage of civilian casualties in Afghanistan than either of their broadcast network competitors."

American flag lapel pins banned? Well that doesn't make any sense at all. How is loving your country unacceptable in any work environment? Since when is it a requirement to not support your nation? Whoa...that's sooo sad. I mean, I can understand if it was a "support my candidate badge" but the American Flag???

*** I Love Fox News ***

Brit Hume needs to worry about Fox and not ABC. These are private corporations as such they have the right to dictate what their employees can and cannot wear in the performance of their jobs.

Wearing a flag does not necessarily make one patriotic. I get a kick out of those who are so unsure of their own patriotism or who are, for some reason scared to death, that someone will consider them, God forbid, UN P A T R I O T I C. So they have to make sure the entire world sees "Hey I'm patriotic, here....see me.....I love my country and you don't ..so ha ha". If it turns you on to wear a little flag lapel pin and put magnets on your car etc than have fun, you have my blessing but it doesn't make you more patriotic than I am nor anyone else is.

Fox comes across as the propaganda wing of the Republican Administration. Whether deliberately or not that is how they appear. Other stations are not so inclined to do that. Does it mean the other stations are not patriotic? NO. Besides by your example it is poor little Fox that is the patriotic station and all the others are evil. Odds are not in your favor, here. How would people allow that to happen where most are bad and only one is angelic? Usually it is the odd one that needs to examine its beliefs and behaviors. Anyway whether Fox or any of the others they all have a right under the Constitution (you know, the document George W. Bush called a goddamn piece of paper) to free speech and free press.

America is a representative democracy and as such dissent and difference of opinion are critical for the healt of this democracy. If everyone were to march in lockstep with the fearless leader we might just as well have a dictatorship. For totalitarianism does not tollerate dissent nor difference of opinion.

Because they're the only conservative news network. It's been my experience that conservatives are much more willing to show their patriotism than liberals. Liberals will show it when it's expected of them, like on July 4th, or at the death of a true patriot and well beloved leader (I'm thinking Ronald Reagan), or when the networks are covering a story in which it looks good to be seen as being patriotic (unfortunately this took place immediately following 9/11, then quickly waned after what was deemed an "appropriate" amount of time). Conservatives are patriotic because that is who they are. It is an intregal part of their character. They do it because they don't care who's watching, it's something they want to do.

Fox News is not patriotic, they are just relatively unbiased *and* they allow on-air personnel to wear jewelry that may be representative of a particular idea.

The majority of their employees may be patriotic (and many are religious) but 'fair and balanced' is the networks real approach - why else would they let an idiotic communist progressive like Alan Colmes on the air??

by patriotic do you mean supporting the war??

then why this ???

In 1999, The Economist reported that Murdoch ( Fox News owner) had made £1.4 billion ($2.1 billion) in profits over the previous 11 years but had paid no net corporation tax. It further reported, after an examination of what was available of the accounts, that Murdoch would normally have expected to pay a corporate tax of approximately $350 million. The article explained that the corporation's complex structure, international scope and use of offshore havens allowed News Corporation to avoid tax[

Support the Troops = Not paying Tax = No money for weapons!!!!

We know they are NOT TRUTHFUL

The Right to Lie in the "News"
If ever we needed to know why the biggest media consumers in the world are so badly informed, this pretty well tells it all. The Media Can Legally Lie.
According to Akre and Wilson, the station was initially very excited about the series. But within a week, Fox executives and their attorneys wanted the reporters to use statements from Monsanto representatives that the reporters knew were false and to make other revisions to the story that were in direct conflict with the facts.
Fox editors then tried to force Akre and Wilson to continue to produce the distorted story. When they refused and threatened to report Fox's actions to the FCC, they were both fired.
Akre and Wilson sued the Fox station and on August 18, 2000, a Florida jury unanimously decided that Akre was wrongfully fired by Fox Television when she refused to broadcast (in the jury's words) “a false, distorted or slanted story” about the widespread use of BGH in dairy cows.
[...] FOX appealed the case, and on February 14, 2003 the Florida Second District Court of Appeals unanimously overturned the settlement awarded to Akre. The Court held that Akre’s threat to report the station’s actions to the FCC did not deserve protection under Florida’s whistle blower statute, because Florida’s whistle blower law states that an employer must violate an adopted “law, rule, or regulation."
In a stunningly narrow interpretation of FCC rules, the Florida Appeals court claimed that the FCC policy against falsification of the news does not rise to the level of a "law, rule, or regulation," it was simply a "policy." Therefore, it is up to the station whether or not it wants to report honestly.
During their appeal, FOX asserted that there are no written rules against distorting news in the media. They argued that, under the First Amendment, broadcasters have the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on public airwaves.
Fox attorneys did not dispute Akre’s claim that they pressured her to broadcast a false story, they simply maintained that it was their right to do so.
OK, pick your jaw up off the floor. That some court thinks they CAN is bad enough, that these people assert their right to do so pretty well kicks it all down the hole. And these guys wonder why their credibility is in the toilet and the net is burning them left right and centre.
Oh, and February 2003, 30 days before Iraq.

But thankfully it is the highest rated news channel out there.

I can't believe they banned the American flag lapel pins. It makes me wonder what would happen if someone kicked the Koran over at ABC.

Wearing a pin does not make you patriotic. Wearing a cross doesn't make you a Christian.
Being a fair and balanced news organization means reporting all sides of the war not just the good news which I might add is very slim.

Wearing American Flag lapel pins is BANNED at ABC??? That is terrible. Simply wearing a pin does not mean that the news is spun one way or another, it is just a statement of personal patriotism, in my opinion. Freedom of expression...

Broadcast network competition tells it all...my laple is better than your laple... lets grow up!!! Ratings...ratings...ratings... we're getting sick. Last night I watched a speech on CNN by distiguished Senator Dick Lugar, suggesting a new direction in Iraq. I failed to see it on Fox News. That's the type of broadcast competition I'm looking for.
