Abridged means abbreviated, so unabridged would include everything. Abridged dictionaries are more practical, because they take out words that are no longer in use. My family has an old unabridged dictionary from the 1800's and it's huge, imagine the size of one today!

Well, an abridged dictionary might have every word in it but not all of their meanings. But it might just have the most common words for each letter and some of their meanings. An unabridged would be every word with every single one of their menings.

It would supposedly have every word in it. BUT...there are so many words now, and some apply to only one occupation that I'm no longer sure that one even really still exists.
