I don't want to look like a complete idiot when I go to the car place..can they get these out? (Im a nanny, so no, I didn't do it)..

I have a mustang and she put it in at the bottom where it looks kind of like coin slots.
I didn't even realize my car was unlocked and THATs what she was doing!

I've been in a couple serious accidents..and the only reason why I NEED to remove them is my boyfriend freaked me out and told me if the airbags deployed...Id be hit with pennies too.

I'm sorry, I had to smile when I read your question. Ah, little kids...I don't think you'll look like a complete idiot if you go to the car place and explain that you are a nanny. I think most mechanics would actually find it amusing. I would say that you go to the car place anyway, if you try to get the pennies out without really understanding the mechanics in the car you could do some serious damage without realizing it.

If you must do this yourself, the first thing to do is to disconnect your battery to prevent accidental airbag deployment. This can really, really hurt you if it goes off. An airbag can still be deployed with the ignition off.
I would be careful sticking anything in there between the airbag cover and the steering wheel. I would highly suggest going to an in-town mechanic to do it for you.
Don't try to pry up the cover too high either.

2 or 4 screws from the back side of the wheel take em out dont un plug any wires you should be ok
dont turn on the ignition switch if you have air bags when diong this

Yes, they can get them out. Also, I'm sure they have seen stranger things. So don't sweat it.
