It could be just a worn belt. See if it has a belt drive, probably under a guard or cover. When you engage the self propelled drive, a pulley will move that tightens the belt. If the belt is worn it won't get tight.

I also have a reasonably super backyard with a brilliant number of stable at modern-day aways and that i purchase a self propelled through undeniable fact that's barely plenty extra handy. however the lawnmower is plenty heavier..yet no longer as heavy as they was. So once I could flow up and down the facets of a deep ditch. . .that's heavy and puzzling to deal with yet you do have the help with the front wheels. yet i'm an previous woman and that i like to easily punch it to flow so i do no longer could push so puzzling in all the unusual angles I even have. Self propelled expenses extra and is one extra difficulty to interrupt. basically ask my ex lawnguy who insisted on dragging it backwards with the wheels nevertheless turning forward and broke the belt. so which you may weigh the convenience of use of the lawnmower going by using itself and additionally you may help it some fairly whilst going up those hills against how plenty lighter and extra value-effective a universal mower is. I even have plenty to shrink over so I placed my funds interior the vast lower back wheels through fact they make it extra handy to recover from issues too. I had a Scotts and it at modern-day blew a rod and that i became into advised it became into my fault for using the incorrect oil. I had used the only that got here with it. I then offered a Toro and it had a heck of a guarantee to commence plus I have been given a 0.33 3 hundred and sixty 5 days extra effective ensuring it to commence. i did no longer shield it and it became into nevertheless commencing whilst the physique rusted out a stable 3 years later. you would be able to desire to be conscious of this may well be a severe humidity and salt section and we mow all 3 hundred and sixty 5 days lengthy. i offered yet another one and don't leave it out. the hot one isn't the primary of the previous one yet then no longer something is these days and the vast lower back wheels are no longer as tall. Toro is truly genuinely worth the money basically through fact it keeps commencing and that i paid somewhat over $3 hundred on sale with all the chocolates. examine the classified ads once you settle directly to purchase. which will forestall plenty too.

It sounds like you didn't break it. You probably most likely have a belt that is wonr and whn you put a load on it...it statrs to slip and won't pull.

The option here is to buy another belt for it. It takes a 3L belt, but not sure what length since I have no Model number or type of mower you have.
I have seen most take a 3L 20-30 belt.

Sometimes overfilling the bag will cause excess grass to get caught up inside the belt housing, try cleaning it out real good this may work.

The drive belt probably slipped off or broke. It may have happened to your husband before and he won't mind fixing it himself. If you don't mind spending $50 bucks or so, taking it to a small engine repair shop would be money well spent.

Good Luck!
