I need to inform my work but I need to know what they will do. I was researching on the internet and saw that I had 60 days to notify the health insurance. Does anyone know what the penalty will be?

There is no penatly if you don't remove him from your benefits. You have two choices keep paying the extra premium for him and wait until next year when enrollment time comes again then remove him, or if you get a divorce then you can submit a copy of divorce papers then he can be removed. The only time employer allows a change in benefit prior to renewal is when there is a marriage, divorce, new member in the family via birth or adoption.

You're best off notifying your employer right now. They may make you wait until the open enrollment, but that's the worst that will happen, especially if he's made no claims against your insurance.

If you have a decent relationship with him, he can provide proof of coverage elsewhere, which would mean your insurance provider would not be responsible for any medical conditions which might have occurred since the divorce.

Don't know what the penalty is. You should have canceled him off your health insurance once the divorce was final. I would find out ASAP on this matter.

notify them asap and tell them it was an oversight. tell them you had so much going on around the time of the divorce that you simply forgot and you want to rectify that situation as soon as possible.

Talk to your HR person about this. The Internet is only a guideline - your HR person will have the better answers.

Why didn't you do this right away? Shesh.

Just cancel him and don't say anything else. They won't care or penalize you.
