I assume you are asking about the BERLIN Airlift.. (GOD, but I wish AmeriKans could use entire words to describe what they mean)

West Berlin was totally surrounded by the U.S.S.R. and was being strangled by a total lack of everything needed to live. If Russia had been successful in bringing WEST Berlin under their control, it would have been a huge PR plum for them and changed the dynamics of the region and, could have ended the containment policies of the U.S.

Ummm...the Containment Policy started after Truman...during the Cold War.

Sooo...yeeeeah

Truman was a supporter of the Domino Policy...aslo known as the Truman Doctrine.
