Because right now Vista is still buggy. But the biggest reason I have seen is resources. Vista is the biggest memory hog of any Windows O/S yet. It also requires much more CPU, hard drive space and better graphics cards to get the most out of it. Simply to run Vista and now have it be slow and freeze up, you need at least 1gb minimum, but it seems 2gb or more of memory does better and would almost guarantee you wont have a problem.

I beta tested for about 2 years. I like the first start of Vista. When the beta was released in Longhorn, they only used it for a short amount a time, which at the point it ran off of XP's code. But then along the line, they just dropped everything and started new. I never liked Vista. I have more than enough good hardware to run it, but I never liked all the graphics, and it's a memory hog. I will always think 2000 is the best Windows OS created - until something else great comes along.
And to the people saying that Vista doesn't let you use pirated stuff, what are you talking about..?
It legally can't restrict you from not using anything..

I have no idea. Vista is a much better operating system then XP. It is faster and way more secure. Yes, it does have a learning curve, especially in the security department.

Personally, I have been running Vista almost 5 months and have had no problems with it. Except for one very old piece of software, it runs all of my programs every bit as well as XP did, and it opens them faster.

Vista is still in it's shake down stages. All that is needed is to give it enough time so that Microsoft can fix the bugs. How soon we forget how long it took to get XP running smooth. It took about a year and the first service pack to get things going. Let's give Vista a little time. It is the operating system of the future. We will all be running it in a few years.

It may be the fact the progress simply baffles some folks.

and people got used to using XP
it does what is required why change to Vista?
Vista requires more disk space than XP.
After so many years of research MS has almost
perfected XP but as in all softwares
there will always be newer and better versions.

People said the same about Win 98 before the bugs were worked out of XP.

XP is a stable OS, while Vista just came out.

I always give MS products at least a year, or a minimum of one or two service packs, before I will purchase it.

I'm sure once Vista is cranking, it will be fine.

The problem with it though, is it's a resource hog. Your hardware really has to be up to date.

because VISTA is still buggi, and it will take at least 1 year maybe more for microsoft to come up with SP, beside Vista maybe good outside, but from technical points is still sucks!

if you want to upgrade your PC from XP to VISTA, you will need check windows hardware compatibility, because VISTa is very picky when comes to hardware. Also VISTA doesn't paly well with older programs

There is a point where you get everything you need to function....and after that it is unneccessary and becomes cumbersome. Vista is cumbersome.
