The grapes are still small, but very green! They look yummy- can we eat them? Or will the birds eat them all before they are ripe?

Don't eat them yet. If they are small and green then they are probably not yet ripe. For that matter, the vine may not even be mature yet. You would be better off waiting until August or September before sampling the produce. I have a grape vine and it has just begun to produce clusters.

I'd be careful before eating them! I have tasted actual wild grapes, knowing exactly what the plant is.
They will taste something like old fashioned grapes if they grow long enough to ripen, but the birds will probably get them before that point.

I wouldn't eat them while they are green, man it will make you sick. I doubt the birds will get all of them, wait till they are ripe. Also, why not take a cutting and grow one in your Yard?

I lived in a suburb of NYC,and we had one there on our tiny property and it made for a sweet august.
