I presume you're showing DVD movies, as opposed to the old-fashioned reel and screen type. Generally you can rent current scary movies at video stores or even at the public library. The scariest movie I ever saw was "The Exorcist". After seeing that one, I slept with the lights on for a month. You might even consider some of the oldies, like Frankenstein, Dracula and the Wolf Man. They may seem a little corny compared to today's blood and gore type, but back in their heyday, they were considered the epitome of fright films.

The Hitcher is a good one...the new version. It's not too scary, but it will make you jump a few times. It's pretty creepy. The Messengers isn't too bad. I don't know of too many scary movies...sorry.

Don't know about anyone else, but the exorcist is the all time scary movie. Be sure to get the director's cut.
FREAKY SCARY!
