I've scoured the net and had no real luck. I believe these are crafts made in prisons but I don't know any ex-cons to ask. I want to make my own. Any information on clear instructions would be appreciated--online or a book to purchase. Thank you very, very much.

It requires some experience and imagination. Just do the bracelet technique until you have enough for a purse. Then add the hardware. Obviously you have to already have made some purses to understand how the hardware is attached.

These instructions seem to be a closely guarded secret. I spent the better part of one day searching for the instructions, and couldn't find them There are all kinds of people, like us, looking for the directions. I even did research under 'Tramp Art'. Nothing. I guess the best thing to do is to buy a fabric clutch bag as a base. Make the chains ( look on the web for candy bracelet instructions ) and attach them with a light weight fishing line.I would catch the wrappers from the back so no stitching shows.

You are looking at a very time consuming project. Good luck with it. The following link describes how to make the chain, but it does not give instructions on the how to make a purse. My son (ex-con) tells me they are sewn together with dental floss. Perhaps you could check e-bay and purchse one from there for a pattern, but I think all you have to really know is how to make the chain then sew it together the way you want it.

I did a search for you too, and didn't turn up anything that would help.
