Matthew you are right, I should have been more specific. I meant it about things we don't do in life because we are afraid. Like quitting a job we hate, doing a project we "think" we can't accomplish and such

Regrets...no matter what kind...I believe are a complete waste of time. They change nothing, and only make you dwell on something and feel worse.

In addition, each decision we have made, or chosen not to make - has brought each of us to the place we are today. I wouldn't change that for anything. Not because I am necessarily in a wonderful place, but because I wouldn't choose to be anything or anyone else. If I want changes, I make them...I don't spend time getting upset about where I could have been, if only....

If it's about taking a chance for something that could be good like starting a business, falling in love, going on a trip or exploration then you probably should go ahead and do it. Or if it's one of those once in a lifetime but costly things, again go for it. However, if it's something dangerous or you're unsure about it's better not do it. Often times we think something we want to do is so great but once we do it we regret because the actuality didn't live up to the hype. You should be more specific so we can better assist you.

This question is a bit complex!
I believe that regret comes in two forms ,the one of guilt for having done something bad in life. And the other one for not accomplishing a desire ,it could be education, travel ,marriage and many other issues.

By been humans we automatically make mistakes in our day to day life this is why no one is perfect!

Part of Christian prayer we all repeat: "We have done things we ought not to have done, and left undone things that we ought to have done" and we confess "there is no health in us." For the impulsive, the prayer includes a wish to be relieved of making a fool of ourselves.

When I was younger, in spite of this, I always advised my kids to always go forward, if it will help. Now I think we worry too much about looking daft. If somebody benefits, always go forward. I regret the gaffes and bodges though.

Why regret anything at all? Regretting only drags a person down until at last they are depressed and I would rather not waste me time with being depressed. The thing to be done is to acknowledge what you've done and move on.

I think that it is always better to be able to say, "at least I tried" than spend the rest of your life wondering the "What ifs". Should your mode of action resulted to something less than desirable, you can either remedy the situation or learn from it.

Hope I was able to help.

Yes. Because doing the wrong thing is more regretable than doing nothing.

we are responsible for our own decisions thus we should face whatever consequences it has in the end. it is normal that we regret if we made the wrong one but in the end something more rewarding is waiting in the end of the line. we should be more open about everything. past is past and just let it go.

Actually, you shouldn't regret anything.

Like the "forgive and forget" deal.

Remember it happened, but don't hold a grudge against yourself.
That's basically what you're doing.
