The last few rounds of Expansion have done nothing good for baseball other than dillute the major league talent and make teams keep questionable guys that years ago they would have sent straight to the penitentiary rather than put up with them! The Devil Rays is a stupid name and their uniforms are an insult to man kind!

You can't just blame the Devil Ray's for the bad quality of baseball. Some old timers would say the Brooklyn Dodgers ruined baseball by moving to L.A.! But that's not my answer. Ever since the expansion, the talent pool of players has been diluted and has never returned to it's glory days. Where are the "power house" teams of yesteryear? Why are mediocre players earning millions of dollars? Major league baseball has become a business. The owners are thinking more about profits than product. They can own a team, have dwindling gate numbers and still make money. There is no motivation for putting together a winning team. Their greed has taken the excitement out of baseball. It's a no win situation for the fans. So some fans are turning to minor league teams. It's more affordable and a great night out for the kids. Major league baseball.......it's just not fun any more.

if they spent the money that other teams did, you would be referring to them as repeating world series winners.
They draft, in all rounds, like they want to win.
Stadium and uniforms are trivial and no reason to judge a team by them.
The problem is money. I don't know the finances of the Devil Rays, but attendence has always been an issue.
We seem to look at the lower payroll teams and wonder what they are doing differently.
But if you look at the teams with the best records and told them to operate with the same budget that the devil rays have, they would even be worse.
I think it's all about perspective. When every goat and his kid are posting pro-yankee, pro-red sox things on YA, you forget that without their salary capability, they are really nothing.
The NYY have a starting 9 with a payroll of 125 mil and only 2 players don't make $10 a year (when Giambi was playing)
If the Yankees or the Red Sox even had to reduce their payroll to $45 mil (which is probably 50% more than the devil rays spend), they may be 50 game winners.
It's all about perspective and spin.

I don't believe their fans would agree. However, They really need to come up with better playing conditions if they want to attract more fans in the future. They have a very good young core group of players that can do some damage in the future.

No. Baseball would be better if the Devil Rays were more competitive.
