I doubt you will see a significant drop in the near future.
Remember that all the Newer Mac's have the new Intell chipset and are Dual Boot and will run Windows as well as Leopard. That being said you are getting a machine that runs either and to date the Windows community offer no such animal. Let's not forget the difference in there core operating sytem and the features it offers over most windows based machines. ( Big difference and More Features)

Apple prices have come way down from the computers that they sold years ago.
My iBook G3 cost me close to $2500 when I had it maxed out for what could go in it. Today you can get a mac book for right around $1000.00, or a mac mini for about $600.00
If you think that current Mac prices are too high, think again. They are competitive to the systems from Dell or Sony that have the same hardware. They are just not as cheap as a compaq or gateway.
The old saying always rings true when it comes to computer hardware "you get what you pay for"

Prices have increased in anticipation of the October rush - when the new OS, leopard, arrives. Prices will drop around December.

Yes. You see, Apple wants to RIP OFF the college students that are going back to school. They want to steal money from those poor mom & dads that have shelled out so much DOUGH to send their kids off to college.
But YES, with Leopard, Apple wants to reward those people that held off buying a new computer... so by buying now instead of 4 months ago, you are paying Apple INTEREST for not buying then.
It's business!

i think the prices went up along with the quality. if they had put so much money in and not gotten any more out, then apple would be suffering around...now. im sry about ur leopard...but maybe u'll end up buying it anyway, it could last a lot longer :) good luck with a decision...

when people stop buying them and Microsoft develops a program that actually works and when Dell starts actually giving customer support on the products that you purchase a warranty for.
So long story short when compitition becomes competitive they will have no other choice but to drop their prices or go under like others have.
