Can they make it as a wildcard? What's your opinion?

I think its possible to win the wild card, but I dont see them doing it. The Yankees have no fire, they have no heart, and they have zero leadership.

Derek Jeter, the Yankee captain, while he is a great player, he is everything but a leader. That's their biggest problem. They all look like they dont care, and the truth is, even on paper, they're just a mediocre team. There is no one besides A-Rod to fear in that lineup anymore.

I have to admit, I love seeing them lose.

J-Far, you say zero leadership? Ask any Yankee about what Derek Jeter's done for the team over the years, from Paul O'Neill, to Tino Martinez, to Jorge Posada and David Wells. Look at last year, when the Yankees faced a barrage of injuries. Jeter had to step in and help out guys like Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrera ... and look what they've become now.

In any event, I can't see the Yankees erasing an 11-game deficit. They nearly won 10 in a row, and moved up 4 mere games. Granted, they never fell back to 14.5 again, but the AL Central race is going to boil down to the wire with Detroit and Cleveland. I'm afraid the Yankees will be sitting at home watching the playoffs, barring a miracle. :(

I know it's early but as a Sox fan you have to love seeing this... Yankees back more than 10 games, with the Blue Jays even ahead of them in the AL East. Can't say it is a lock but we have to love how things are going.

Honestly, I don't think they'll make the playoffs. The Tigers and Indians will be battling until the end of the year for that first place position in the AL Central. That will keep both teams in contention for the AL Wild Card and keep the Yanks in the shadows.

As a life long Yankee fan, they are just simply not playing good baseball. They have plenty of talent, they are just not getting it done. Jeter, ARod, and Posada are all playing at a high level, but the rest of the team is not following suit. As a Yankee fan, I am not a Mets hater like JFar up there, I am a real New Yorker, if you are from NY JFar, you should re-evaluate your pathetic self, you'd rather side w/ Boston fans??? These same fans are Patriot and Bruin fans, think about it.

I believe both Cleveland and Detroit will have a better record than the Yankees at season end. That would mean that the Yankees will have to beat Boston and win the division to go to the playoffs. This is not an impossible task but they better get it going soon.

Stranger things have happened.
Even Paris Hilton survived that long long incarceration.
And The View managed to get along without Rosie O'Donnell.
But I'm still not over Ginger leaving The Spice Girls.

I think they had better start playing better if they wanna make it to the playoffs as a wild card entry. The AL Central is strong and the wild card team will most likely emerge from that division.

the absolutely suck they spend to much money on players who are good for other teams but they aren't good when they come into New York.

examples: Randy Johnson, Johnny Damon, Kyle Farnsworth and much more.

they should just stop trying to sign big money free agents and just start to use young people and look towards the future.

they wont win the division and they wont win the wild card. this will be the scenario for a couple more years.

It's possible but I don't see it happenning. Right now they're not even in second and they're 11.5 (last time i checked...might be 10.5) games back. If they step it up after the all-star break then maybe...but I strongly doubt it

As Herb Brooks said, Team Chemistry is more important than having a team of All-Stars
