I have been flying since before I was born (litterally). I go to Germany every year to see my family, but this year I have a son of my own. I have never before even thought twice about flying, but I am now terrified of it. All I can imagine is going down and looking into my sons face. Hes just confused and doesnt know hes about to die, and its all my fault because I put him on this plane.
Anyway, my question is, would you die before the plane goes into the ocean? (since we are over the atlantic for hours) Or would the impact kill you? Or wouldyou have to drown in the freezing water?
If it werent for these damned terrorists I also wouldnt have to be so scared because a wreck due to a planes physical defaults is extremely unlikely.

You shouldn't worry, my husband is in the Military and we have lived in Japan twice (with a 14 hour flight over the Pacific!), Germany (11 hour flight), Australia (WAY TOO LONG!!), and so many more places that which we had to get on a airplane. My 5,5,7, and 8 year old kids love airplane rides! I just don't let them know about the slightest possibility of the plane crashing. With all the things you go through in the terminal and stuff, its almost IMPOSSIBLE for a terrorist to even step 300 feet close to the plane. Did you know that you are WAY more likely to get in a car crash then be on a plane crash? I am not going to answer your horrifying question, about which way to die. If I were you, I would just not worry about it at all. How old is your son? Is he into drawing and coloring books yet? If I were you, I would get him a new game/toy for the trip. When my 8 and seven year old were younger, I would get them a new barbie or a new movie. You should try that with your son! Have a safe, relaxed trip!

I suspect that if there were a plane crash above water that impact or cold water would be the reason for death. Just think, if you dove from the side of the pool you'd head toward the bottom of the pool, and if in a plane you'd be pushed so hard south and go down so deep you'd not know which way is up even if you did survive the hypothermia and pressure, let alone have enough air in your lungs to get to the top. You know, sometimes people wish things and then somehow they happen from being pre-programmed. I suggest you think of happier things.

The plane can crash in several ways:

It can explode in mid air over the ocean and all the people will die before they hit the water.

It can crash like a stone into the water and the impact can kill the people.

If they survive the above two and are not rescued in time, they will die of suffocation and drowning.

Coming back to your fears, I would recommend that you use Red Chestnut, a Bach Flower Essence available either in near by health food stores or online for your fears, not for yourself bur for your loved ones. To know more about Bach Flowers, go to the free online course at:

The plane could easlily catch on fire and just that alone could kill you before you hit the water. other wise usually the force of the plane above you would hold you down underthe water that is why they tell you to use the seat bottoms on a plane to help you float. I hope that is help. And dont worry, im only 13 rightnow and the first time that i ever went on a plane, it was in october of 2001 (the year that the terrorist attacked the world trade center).

Do u drive with ur son in the car? Do u walk down the street with him? Because statistically these things are much more dangerous than flying!
Security measures in airports & on aircraft these days have been so increased that the chances of a terrorist actually being able to damage an aircraft is extremely small!!

im not going to scare you with scary stories. as its probably not the best thing to do. Flying is safer than getting in a car.

there are thousands of flights taking place every day, the last 6 years i have heard of no hijacks. making the chances of you getting hijacked about 1 in 10000000000000 (i think thats enough zero's).

and the only thing you need to know when making a waterlanding is to listen to the instructions of the stewardesses, they are trained for these situations and they know what to do.

now take a nice relaxing pill, and enjoy your flight there is nothing to be worried about. the ywill take excelent care of you.

if the plane crashes without exploding the impact is the main killer, then there is the possibility of fire, drowning and freezing.
if the plane explodes in midair the explosion shock, lack of oxygen, freezing and finally impact are the killers.
right now malfunction is more dangerous than terrorism
