First determine if it is a specific problem with the ports or the devices. Try some other USB devices, if none of them work, clearly it is the ports, so you can work from there. In that case you need to make sure they are connected to the motherboard, and if they are, you may have a problem in need of a technician. However if some other devices work, then the problem is the printer and the memory stick. You could have a defective cable, or not have the appropriate driver installed.

I would personally lean towards it being a problem with the ports, since the memory stick doesn't work. This happens sometimes, and usually it requires a technician to repair.

It could be a bad cable from the USB plug on the motherboard to the USB ports on the case. Of course, if you are using a laptop; that probably isn't the problem. Maybe your printer USB cable is NO GOOD.

If you are using Windows 98 or Windows ME, then the memory stick probably does not work.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Your problem can be dealt in two ways, One the hardware itself or second Drivers.
By hardware, USB ports turn faulty soon. You can either replace them or if u have any other free ports on your system, you can buy a Serial Port -USB converter or parallel port - USB converter.
By software, I mean the USB drivers that have to be installed with that Particular device . By default , Windows XP comes prebuilt with USB drivers(Software required by the Operating System to contact the Hardware) . If u r using any other older OS, download from the manufacturer website or install the drivers that come as a CD with ur printer or flashdrive.

Hope that works..

Try connecting your USB devices to other PC if it works then there is a problem in your USB ports. OR try removing and reinstalling your USB ports.

Maybe your USB port is not really connected to the CPU...
