I know of a RamAnujan--he developed a means of summation, a definition essentially, that allows for the renormalization of infinite sums. For example, he expressed how (the now called Ramanujan) sum of the positive integers 1 +2 +3 . . . turns out to be equal to . . .

-1/12 . . . ?!

No joke. Check out:

When Ramanujam was in 1st grade, his teacher was teaching them taBLES AND DIVISION and she asked the students what is 4 divided by 4, 3 divided by 3 and so on
Then the teacher gave an assertion that a no. divided by itself is 1
But ramanujam challenged her saying 0 / 0is not 1
then he also asked 1/0 is 1 or 0
Thus ramnujam gave the idea of infinity
and so he is rightly called the man who knew infinity
