It would help if we had more information.

First, with a wired connection to the router do you have success logging onto the router and the internet? If not, we first need to be able to log onto the router and then address the internet side.

What sort of modem do you have? How is it connected to the router (ethernet is probably the best way to do this as it is a lot more stable). Some need a straight, some need a cross cable to link to the router from modem.

Did you verify that you have internet signal by connecting your pc via wired connection to modem? We need to assure ourselves that the internet feed is good.

Each time you change the modem connection (to pc or to router) you must reboot modem. Did you do that?

I know I am asking a lot of questions but we cannot proceed without more info.

I suggest you do the following and write back with the info so we can help:

1. remove router, shut down modem, connect cat 5 cable from modem to pc, make sure lan connection is set to obtain ip automatically, boot up modem, wait 0.5 min, boot up pc. Open command prompt (start, run - type in cmd and hit enter); type in "ipconfig" (without quotes) and hit enter. You should see an ip address, subnet mask, and default gateway provided. If you do not, there is an internet feed problem; contact your ISP for assistance. In command prompt, type in "ping 4.2.2.2" without the quotes and hit enter; you should have 4 positive ping responses showing that you have internet connectivity. Your ISP needs to be involved if you do not. Then you should type in command prompt "ping yahoo.com" and hit enter. You should have 4 successful responses here; again if you do not tell your ISP.

2. If the above pings were successful you should have internet access; open your browser and see. If not you have a firewall issue on your pc that needs to be fixed.

3. if the above was successful, we have established the ISP is working as it should. Now turn off the pc and the modem. Install an ethernet cable between modem and router (check w router literature to see if you need a cross or a straight cable and use the proper one). Connect a straight ethernet cable between router LAN port and pc. Turn on modem; wait 0.5 min and turn on router, wait 0.5 min and turn on pc. After all is warmed up, open command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" (without quotes - never use quotes in command prompt) and hit enter. You should see a LAN IP address (format probably 192.168.x.y where x = 1 or 0, y between 2 and 255) for your wired connection. If not, check your router config to make sure it assigns LAN IP via DHCP, save the config change and reboot pc. If you receive the ip addrees type in command prompt "ping 4.2.2.2" as you did above; you should receive 4 successful responses; then type in "ping yahoo.com" and you should receive 4 successful responses. If ping responses are not successful the problem is in your router's WAN configuration; check this out as it should be for a dynamic ip and dynamic dns. Once successful we have established that the router, modem, and isp are working. Now on to the wireless

4. Configure the wireless on the router using a wired connection. Never configure a wireless device using a wireless connection. Note exactly what config you select (encryption, preshare key, MAC validation, etc) as you must match it on the wireless equiped pcs. Try each wireless device, one by one until you succeed.

This step by step is lengthy but you need to do this in a formal problem solving manner or you will not succeed.

i assume the relationship is stable whilst the modem is linked on on your workstation. next wiring is significant. The cord from the modem is going to the WAN port on the router. Then connect a cord between between the router LAN ports and your workstation. the workstation shows an icon with 2 displays down at decrease acceptable showing a connection. The CD could discover the internet by using that. next make certain the wifi adapter on your workstation is linked and the drivers are real put in. some laptops have somewhat swap turning this adapter off!. Now the CD could discover the adapter and the internet the two in the time of the wifi (the icon with one little reveal reveal screen at decrease acceptable). If a variety of of of those issues dont artwork commence a provider call with D-link thorugh their website.
