In my home, I have discovered a collection of old 78 records together with 45's and 331/3 records/discs; many have their original covers.

Unfortunately some of the records/discs have become covered in dust.

What is the safest way to remove the dust and clean up the records/discs?

I'm sure that I have some rare records/discs amongst my find and once I get them cleaned up, I would like to be able to transfer them on to CD's or DVD's, for my own use.

Please give me some guidance on the safest way to clean these oldies.

My bf washes is vinyl records in a weak solution of washing up liquid and water very gently with a sponge. Seems to work, but you have to be careful in case a large piece of dust/grit scratches the record. Good luck.

A dust cloth, some come with electronic equipment, or else available at anyplace that sells kitchen supplies, should do ok on getting rid of the dust.

Some record stores sell both record dust cleaners and a liquid in a small squeeze bottle that will clean records, provided instructions are followed to the letter.

Good luck.

seventy 8's spin distinctly quickly and sound good, yet they have not got an outstanding form of track. The 33's can in positive condition an entire album on them yet do no longer sound distinctly much as good. All my existence i've got been someplace interior the middle, so i'm going to assert i'm a 40 5.

Companies such as Moth, Origin, Pro-Ject and Nitty Gritty all make machines specifically designed to safely clean all vinyl records.
They aren't cheap though. Around £400 as a ball-park figure.

A clean cloth, no cleaners or liquid.

As for transferring them to cd's or mp3's -
