Dude... If you go kayaking you should be barefoot anyway, however if you feel you really need to wear something on your feet i suggest you buy a pair of Keen Venice H2's. They have a special surface to not smell badly, and they are water proof and durable. Perfect for kayaking with.
Throw the smelly flip flops away man, thats rank.

Try soaking them in a really nice fresh conditioner! If that doesnt work chuck them out get a new pair and in future wear wellies when in the kayak, lol :))

It is not bad to be frugal. You may keep your flip-flops.
You just need a bar of bath soap, brush (hard) and water. Do the process 3 times and it will just good as new.

Let them soak in some hot water and white vinegar overnight, rince and then air outside for a few days.

You didnt mention what material but I'm assuming they are plastic. Try some bleach on them. Spray them with a bleach solution and let them sit overnight then rinse. Good luck!!
