As an Englisman who is currently waiting at JFK airport to fly back home, i have been thinking of this.
As it has been well documented the Americans dont have a good record in wars.I think poor/cheap equipment is to blame.
The reason why the Americans seem to hit the wrong targets all the time is as follows
Most of the guns that they use have bent barrells,much like at the fairground stalls where the barrells are bent to stop you winning a goldfish or fluffy toy.
Anyone agree or have a better solution?

We have a very good record in wars, at least as good as yours, and when it came between some rag-tags and the British Army, you lost! Perhaps they should keep that in mind in Iraq!
It is true that America treats her Veterans like Sh__! Have since WW II!
And in Iraq, they seem to get what industry wants them to have. Most went to Iraq in unarmored Humvees and no body armor! Five years later, they still are suffering from the lack of the same thing.
I can't think of the name of that other vehicle they are using now but the knew that was a piece of junk when they built it, and it is proving to be just that in Iraq!
Our largest casualties in Iraq are from IED's which cause closed brain trauma and a lot of amputees. The VA is treating 105,000 Iraqi Vets on 100 Billion in less money than they had in 2005. Not surprising as we have had almost 20,000 die from Gulf War Syndrome which most had to fight the government to get any help at all!
Like I said, the military gives the military what the contractors and military decide to give them. For instance, we have known since the early 1960's that the M16 is a piece of crap and has no stopping power, so now, some 40 odd years later they are trying to replace it with the M4 which is no better. Both have problems with malfunctions! That is why an elite team of US Army Special Forces contracted with a German manufacturer to make their weapons. They have had their own since 1994!
Got to say that .50 caliber sniper rifle is something else! However, it must have a hell of a muzzle flash and you would be a target very quicly in almost any war except Iraq!
Quit looking down while writing. I think you aren't talking of a bent barrel at all!

I think your barrel is bent.
The Americans have some of the best weapons in the world. Our problem seems to be that when we get into any kind of conflict, the politicians get involved and screw things up. We do have some over Zealous people who don't look before they strike. So sometimes we make mistakes. But I could name several times that English have made mistakes. I had the privilege to do some things with the British Military. I very much enjoyed my time with them. But they have many of the same problems the Americans have.
You need to Stop Stereotyping people.
I would defend your countries military if it was criticized by some uninformed idiot. I've worked with them, I think I have the right!

Good morning Sid.. Your usual rantings about America seems to have sunk to lower depths this morning.Mind you i am laughing at the bent gun barrels.. bet you didn't know that during the 2nd world war, there was automatic rifle mp44 of German origin made with bent barrels so that its users could indeed fire round corners..
Perhaps you ought to take a look at the American military before suggesting that they aren't given anything by their government!. I suspect any British soldier would swop pay and conditions, weapons and hardware with any American soldier. if you want to rant about anything you should rant about our lads doing a damn good job with crap pay crap weapons and crap hardware.

Wasn't the British navy in danger of having it's entire fleet stranded in the middle of the ocean because they didn't have enough petrol to get back to port a few years ago? You might want to look in to that. Sure, America had Vietnam, every powerful country has their Vietnam eventually. Rome had the Huns, Russia had Afghanistan, and England had... Where was England's Vietnam again?

I wasn't aware of this. Seems we kill enough people, so at least SOME of the guns have to be in good condition, right?
My brother is a sailor in the Navy, and if I made 1/10 of his salary, I'd be on cloud nine.
