She needs counselling, not jailing. Why would you smash a bottle in someones face? Can she explain her actions? Sounds like she needs to be removed from her mother ASAP.

if she has never been in trouble before then generally she will not be jailed as it is her 1st offence.
She will be tried as an adult though, if she gets some character references this will really help her in court although i wouldnt give such a girl one, but im sure she will be able to rake up some from friends/family.
Sounds like this girl needs a social worker - her mum (not even worthy to be called this by the sounds of it) should think more of her daughter and not be bringing her up in such a way, what was she even doing in the pub anyway they can now get into trouble for letting underage punters into the bar.
I wouldnt worry about her getting jailed the justice system is a disgrace and does let things like this pass with a fine/community service. Worse thing is if she cant afford the fine they will let her pay a small amount every month, it is any wonder people get on like this when they are not punished in a fair/sensible way.
Good luck to you and your husband anyway Im sure hes worried about his daughter but im also sure hes glad to be away from his ex.
Try to get your husband to talk to his daughter and explain the full dangers of glassing someone, it can kill in an instant if hit on your head/face in the wrong place. If the injured girl has damages to her face she is looking at an even bigger fine as women generally get more money than men for facial injuries.

Don't know your laws!
What is a 17 year-old doing in a pub?
In my state a 17 year-old can be certified and tried as an adult, as long as the Superior court is willing to accept the certification. They certainly do not have to!
Depending on the injuries would dictate the charge. It could be from assault and battery to 1st degree assault!
A simple assault could be up to a year in jail and an aggravated or 1st degree could be up to 15 years, in my state. If you are from the UK, I haven't a clue. Sorry!

Depends on what she has been charged with
GBH - up to 5 years
ABH - up to 3 years
Offence with a deadly weapon - 10 years
also there will reports, on her behaviour to be taken in to consideration.
She might be lucky and get probation and a fine with compensation to the girl involved,
but look towards a jail sentence

Well for it to be going to crown court then it is a serious offence.
Violence has no place in society and she should take the consequences of her actions.
My guess is that she is looking at a custodial sentence.

Depends on the lawyer that is hired to defend her. It could be really bad or huge fine, many hours of community service and lots of counseling...depends on the lawyer and the plea bargain. it is ashame that she has no positive role model, if her Mom is violent also. it doesn't sound like it will turn out so good for her, unless you step in. good luck to you all.

She should get a couple of years if I had my way. But she'll get a slapped wrist and a fine/community service. Glassing someone is evil.
