want to surprise my daughter with a wii, what sort of games need the nunchuk and do i really need to get one as soon as possible.
am i going to spend a fortune on batteries for the controller and do the batteries run out when your half way thru a level etc.??

The wii is packaged with 1 nunchuck acessory. The only reason to purchase another is if she plans on playing multiplayer with a game that requires the nunchuck. (but most likely not)
Regular AA batteries last about 30-40 hours of actual play time, so use your discression as to purchasing the rechargable batteries for the wii remote.

The batteries which are supplied with the remote lasted us about a week, but we were on the Wii all the time, your best bet is to buy a battery charger and at least 4 AA batteries.
As for the nunchuck it comes with the Wii (if it is new) and some games like Zelda do need it, you can check on the back of any games boxes you are going to buy, whether you need the nunchuck or not.

Tip #1: Don't waste money on batteries. They run out fast and can be a pain to continue changing them. I suggest the wii remote charger that charges two remotes. I have and I have not changed a single battery ever since.
Tip#2: Most games do not require a nunchuck just the wii remote. Games like Paper Mario, Wario Ware, Ray man, and others that should interest your 7 year old girl only require the wii remote. However if you are interested in Zelda for example you do need a nunchuck. (Yet that is a one player game and the wii does bring one so... I see no point in getting one for now). Hope this helps!

Normal AA batteries last for around 20 hours play. Buy the rechargable docking stations that some with the battery pack in cluded. Definitely buy a Numchuck for your daughter then she can kiss your butt at boxing - my little ones love it!! The 6 and three year old often box against each other with the little one being ahead at the mo. (saves them doing it for real!)

definite, easily. i offered six rechargeable batteries and a charger for £9-ninety 9 from Currys, and that they final approximately eith hours each and each on the Wii remotes. until eventually now then, to get the comparable effects I had to purchase some AA batteries that value £4 each and each!!

my batteries (they were in the wiimote when I bought it) run out after 60 hours of gameplay. I now use rechargeable but they last like 4 hours. nunchack is a must
