Who stated this in the first place? What research is there to back this up? Do they mean only 10% at any one time because I'm sure using alot more would cause some sort of epileptic fit. Surely 90% doesn't do nothing at all.

I think the whole premise is absurd because how would you know just what your brain is capable of if you've ony used 10% of it. It doesn't make any sense. It's like saying "He has the potential to be a good student." If he/she isn't, how do you know he/she has the potential? with an I.Q. test? They don't predict anything other than how you would do on another I.Q. test.

Maybe the average person uses 10% of their brain, but elected officials in the government only use 2% and most of that is used to calculate how much money they are lining their pockets with!

Imagine where we would be now if we used the whole human brain at it's maximum capacity. This is a romantic idea which will always persist in the imagination of people.

I don't know who stated this first, but it is false.

I've read quite a bit about the brain, and this myth is dispelled in most of the brain books.

Well, maybe those people do only use 10% of their brains and that's why they say and believe that theory.

Just one of those "common knowledge" tidbits that is probably not true. I think I use all of mine, but hey I am no neural surgeon.
