I get a message saying: "Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error"
It only happens on the removable disk. I can save the file to my documents with no problems. HELP PLEASE

Thanks a lot for all of you. I have tried all of that with no change. I can save to another memory stick but not my first one (which has almost all of my files). Any thing else I can do??

Hi
No solutions I'm afraid, but some more info:
- I have this on one Dell PC with vista and not the other
- it is only Word that behaves this way, other Office products and notepad work fine
- it doesn't matter which USB slot or stick I use
- if I've created the Word doc elsewhere and save to the USB stick it's fine, but if I edit that document and try to save again to the USB drive I get the error message and my doc is deleted
Many of the techie boards talk about Norton Anti-Virus which we don't use, but try these links below - as I am too.

The memory stick (whilst plugged right into a properly suited card reader) will act as though it have been a annoying force or comparable interior the area drop down area of the save communicate. while you're fairly relating a USB memory Flash force, this could act interior the comparable way, basically without the cardboard reader requirement. while you're responsive to the previous Floppy Disk gadget, you will locate the technique is comparable. good success!

Word won't save directly to removable media.

Save files to your hard drive FIRST. Then, drag & drop the file to your Memory stick.

Are you on a terminal? if so, you admin may have blocked writing to a removable drive. You may also want to check if your drive has any problems, try defragmenting it, it will detect any disk errors.

Your memory stick may be write protected. Check if there is a small switch/knob to turn off the protection.
