Here are my Ideas.

Since the fifties Food Portion sizes have about doubled.

We are nearly inactive due to TV and computers.

Food is used as a reward instead of a three times a day necessity.

The food of the fifties was probably just as fat or maybe more so, but we just ate less of it.

Our family sat down to a family style table. Six people, one bowl of Potatoes, another vegetable, one piece of meat each,
and I do not recall if we had bread with a meal, maybe sometimes. Snacks were unheard of. We would have an uniced cake on Sundays.

Plus the family had a business, so we all worked at home. So no one had any extra weight what so ever.

I do believe the additives that are pumped into our meats contribute to a lot of our weight problems. If you inject growth hormones into a cow and we eat the meat, won't it logically effect us? They are also injected with antibiotics to keep them healthy, I am sure in someway that effects us also. The same goes for chickens and pigs.

Studies need to be done on the pros and cons of all of the chemical additives to our foods.

Simple. People are eating twice as much and moving half as much due to: longer working hours, Mums working more than before so take-aways or eating out at fast food restaurants is more commonplace, many families don't eat together at the table - they have it on their laps in front of the tv, more additives and oils in packaged foods and many people do not get much or any fresh air and exercise. Children/adults don't walk to school like in the past. It really is not hard to avoid obesity. You can still have a junk food treat once in a while but you need at least 20-30 mins brisk walking/exercise a day. I can't believe people can let themselves go. It is like they have no self-respect and then they expect the health system to make them "right" when they start to suffer the ill effects of their eating ie heart disease, diabetes, strokes and a myriad of other health problems due to poor eating and lack of exercise. Wake up and smell the coffee you fatties!

Cos people are eating more working less.. why not eat less, work moderate n worry less? Know the chemistry your food. Know how much food u require for your sort of job. The right amount of carbohydrates, prots... vits...& what not. Slight over indulgence can be overlooked. So take care enjoy right food mate.
