Quality is difficult to measure and prone to subjective interpretations..... quantity is easy to appreciate without debate, as long as quality is not too obviously negative or sub-zero!

Also, when it comes to life, one can argue that every experience counts and that is all that life is about..... there is some merit in that except that health ought to be reasonably OK, or else a longer life would only be a bigger curse!!

Having given that justification, let me, however, quickly state here that I personally do look for quality rather than quantity and indeed would hate a longer life without peace and purpose.

In a word, Darwinism. Survival of the fittest. Physical size is most often determinative of the victor and it is only instinctive that people equate largeness with superiority.

its not the size that matter but how important its for human survival!.. and by the way... The only people that talks about physical size, are usually frustrated women.

people think that more the duration of life, more they have an exposure to oppertunities and they would able to fulfil their hopes.
