There's nothing wrong with reading, and it's so stupid to call someone gay because they read. Your so-called friends must be complete idiots. No offense. That's so stupid, though. And it's even more stupid because it's not like you were reading a Powerpuff Girls comic. And even if you were, so what?

Nothing's wrong with you, keep reading, and tell your friends to get lives. =)

If reading is only for girls and women, why then are so many novels written for men? You go to the drug store, the supermarket/grocery store, or a department store and most likely something like 75-80%, leaving 20-25% for men and kids (and most of that tends to be for the kids, maybe just 5-8% for guys) of the books are going to be romance novels, which may enforce your friends idea that reading is for girls if those are the only places they ever see books. You go to the bookstore and the percentage of books is going to be much more evenly distributed for everyone. Even more importantly, most of the books will be for both men and women.

I feel very sorry for your friends, having no clue what their missing by not reading. Being a guy, myself, I really enjoy reading. Wasn't something I enjoyed very much in school when it was forced reading. But even then when it was my choice and wasn't for school, or for a grade, it was something I enjoyed. Reading stimulates the mind and gives you something to do besides watching tv, playing videos games, or playing computer, or playing video games.

My husband likes to read books and he's certainly not gay. Those people just don't know what they are talking about. I think it's great that you read books. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't read. I wish more people would develop a love for books.

No, there is nothing wrong with you having a reading hobby. Your freinds are just being honest with you, and you should celebrate that, They tell you what they imagine when they see you reading, and that is some one sort of gay, giggleing while reading a book. or a girl who sits with her legs crossed reading a magazine. To be honest i think the same thing when i see some one reading at work. Theres nothing wrong with thier opinion, and you should be glad you recieved it. Now if they turn this into negativity, please let them know it bothers you.

it is completely fine for a boy to have a reading hobby

your "friends" are probably just annoyed because you read and they cant

they dont know what they are missing

reading is a great hobby and if your frinds dont like that you read they probably dont really like you (i speak from experience) they just want lots of other "friends" so they look popular

What a load of crap.

You keep reading. In fact, read as many book of different genres as you can. You'll be a lot smarter than they will be.
