Your dsl modem is either a ethernet connection or a dsl connection. If you have ethernet connection, the cord will be a large phone cord and a larger then a phone plug. You will plug that wire into your ethernet netword card at the back of your computer. If you have a USB dsl modem, you will plug the flat cord into a usb jack at the back of your computer.

Also, there will be a normal phone wire coming out of your dsl modem. The phone cord you plug into your phone jack on your wall.

Under Control Panel / Network Connections. You will have two connections listed. One will be a dialup connection to the ISP so that the modem can talk to the ISP and the second connection will be your network ethernet connection which is a Highspeed connection.

Your best bet is to call your ISP and ask to speak to a tech to help you set up your connections...

Good Luck

DSL differs from cable line in that DSL runs something call PPPoE that need special software while cable is a normal LAN connection hence it needs nothing special to get it work.

If you plan to share by using one of those home routers there is no need for that special software' the needed equivelent is already on the home router.

There is a pair of login and password, for use under PPPoE, take note of that, home router setup usually involves no more than going http://192.168.0.1 and follow stuff there, anyway; other than your login/password you can chuck the rest of DSL Startup Kit away because your home router would have all the instructions.
