They are both good teams. They are contenders. Will they win a championship? Can't tell you for sure. They have had their chances, but I think as long as Tim Duncan is around that its going to be very hard to get past the Spurs either way you look at it. Both the Mavs and Suns rosters are built with the spurs in mind. They set their team up to match well against san antonio because they know that they will meet them in the playoffs eventually, and the road to the championship goes through South Texas.

I know for sure the mavs will win before the suns, since they have proven they can get there, the only problem they need to fix is the choking on lower class teams, that has to stop before they even win a championship. I don't see the suns winning one anytime soon since they have enough problems with the Texas rivals getting better and trying to take each other out, both are about the same in capabilities of beating the suns.

that depends on how much time you have....
both teams need a legitimate center that can hold something down, or at least create some sort of interior toughness.
the Mavs have about as much interior toughness as a twinkie, and we all know how rough those twinkie centers are!
the Suns have Amare, but that's not enough. they need a big man that can be bruising and solid. give the other teams something to think about before they take off running into the lane. plus, once you get passed Amare on defense, there's no one else that's even on the same planet as intimidating. Tony Parker and Ginobli kill them fools every time. we all know Nash has NO defense, so they have to have a plan to compensate for that match up.
finally...neither team has a man that has ice water in the veins, and a shark's knack for smelling blood. the Spurs have more than 1 guy like that, so they never have to depend on one guy. MJ always came up with a play near the end to cut your heart out and close the lid on your casket.
will either of them ever win? it's always possible of course....but not with the rosters they have right now.

dear god this years spurs is such a weak version of an nba champion, mavs get a decent point gaurd its over. the mavs beat the spurs everytime this season, two reasons why the mavs or suns havent won, one is don nelson, who created whats in dallas now,and the nba handed the spurs the series against the suns and went on to be the worst nba championship team ever !

highly unlikely. they are most likely gonna just make it to the playoffs and provide some nice entertainment with their stars but they are not really dedicated teams like the spurs. let the spurs serve as an example to the nba what it takes to win consistently. lot flash-in-the-pans will be always surface and entertain us. maybe it really does have something to do with coaching and selecting reliable players with character, unlike the la lakers.

the Suns need to get better at team defense, and Amare needs to learn how to guard Duncan more effectively. If they can get past the Spurs, they'll be able to take the whole thing.
Mavs....hmm, don't know if they can get any closer than they did 2 seasons ago

Not with the teams they have now. They each can't beat San Antonio.
