A ex-flat mate of mine promised he could get me a tv at a discounted price from a friend of his but has now said he cant get the tv anymore and he is refusing to give my money back. I don't have anything in writing to show I gave him money. What can I do to try and get my money back? I have since found out this guy has a history of conning people in another country and I believe he may have been in trouble with the police there due to this. Please help - BOB

I won't tell you how foolish you were. I'm sure you are telling yourself that already. Why did you give him cash and not a check? Why did you not buy from a store for a much lower price? You should file a police report. You should also sue him. Do you have any witnesses or proof? Gad, what an expensive lesson. I'd recommend shopping at stores in the future and using checks or credit cards to pay. Were you buying a 200 inch TV for that sum?

Hate to tell you Bob- but you just got ripped-off. You can report him to the police again & try to press charges, but THAT might end up costing you MORE than what you already lost- on the TV! Any chance you might know a couple of BIG burly guys who owe YOU a "favor"? :)

Bob looks like your screwed. File a complaint. See if you can sue him. Sometimes one person cant make a diffrence.. but finally when it catches up to him all the cases filed against him will count when he gets sentenced.

Contact a lawyer and sue. That's all you can do. I suspect you are out five grand. What kind of TV is worth that kind of money??
