GAMEPLAY!!!!!!! what would rather have, real look looking enviroments and a retarded storyline? or a total kickass storyline that makes you wish you were in it, but with only mediocre graphics?
"THAT, is the question."

Gameplay hands down.
I can name some really, Really fun games off the top of my head that weren't so Great in the Graphics department;
ANY of he Pokemon RPGs
Wii Sports
Excite Truck
Super Monkey Ball (any of them except the silly one with the Story)
Final Fantasy 6 and 7
Katamari Damacy
Earthbound
Paper Mario (any of them)
Tony Hawk Underground (Really gritty textures, unsmooth animations)
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
World of Warcraft (Yes, I know the art is bloody great, but I had a bad computer when I got it, and the game wasn't that pretty on it. But I got hooked to it nonetheless. I went and got a GX card to fix some graphics bugs, and I cranked the settings up to above average and It was like falling in love all over again.)
On the flipside, I have played some games that were very pretty, but not fun, like the Lord of the Rings movie games, and Motorstorm.
So yeah, If it's pretty but Unfun, it's worthless. But if it's ugly but is a Blast, it's still worth plenty to me.
Of course, if it's fun AND pretty, Like LoZ:Twilight Princess, or HALO, or Final Fantasy 12, then we have the best of both worlds.

Definetly gameplay. Graphics are a plus, but the fun is found in the gameplay. I sometimes push my 360 out of the way of my original NES. I can honestly say, ive never played a football game for any console as fun as Tecmo Super Bowl for NES. You can keep your Madden 07, I want Tecmo.

Gameplay. What good are graphics if the gameplay blows ***? I'm not going into a game to be visually awed.

Gameplay is what makes the game. I do care how a game looks, but is not enough to make a game awesome.
