Know how to tell if an AIM Screen name is still in use??

I have like 200 old screen names of friends, and they are t he ones that are never on.

is there a way i can tell of they are still using their screen name, or if i have old deleted SNs left on my buddy list for no reason?

They might be in the online directory - otherwise, just e-mail them and ask if they still use the same screenname.
