It's tough I know: I been smoke free since last December. It gets easier as time goes on....but the cravings--to some degree--never fully leave you; they make very brief visits.

The general time frame is 16 weeks for full nicotine flush-out from one's system. And, albeit expensive, the smoking cessation drug, Chantix may work at helping you through those weeks, till you can manage your own smoke free life.

I did it...and now, I can even stand next to smokers....and still abstain from cigarettes.....I feel an eventual craving....for about 2 or so minutes....then I'm OK for days.

And dig this: I did NOT want to quit and I advocate smokers rights to outspoken degrees. I quit to save my life.

And that's my life as a recovering tobacco nicotine addict, who now deals with Asthma....and faces the possibility of COPD.

I chose to channel my frustrative cravings in two areas: rock n roll drumming....and sex---both have worked out quite well for me since December!!!!

I am but I quit last August. When I have a strong urge, I knit or get on yahoo answers. If you can quit for 20 hours try 21, and just keep adding one hour. Quit smoking one hour at a time.
If it's the right time for you that is or else it won't work.

JFC, man. how can you let an inanimate object have such power over you?? Don't be weak. Have some self respect. Have some will power.
but seriously, 20 hours is GOOOOOD; you can only go one minute at a time. Best of luck. If you really want to stop, look for an herbal tincture called "Lobelia". Follow the directions. It makes you hate the taste.

Good going if you can go 20, you can go 20 more. The cravings will stop (at some point) hang in there.
