There is a certain New Orleans sound that I just can't come up with a name for. It's like a mix between Dixie and blues and Mardi Gras and creole. An example would be the second song on Norah Jones' newest CD. Any ideas of what I may be thinking?

The brassy horn swing type jazz, has subtle variants, but is namely called "Dixieland Jazz", galvanized into fame by jazz legend Louis Armstrong. Ronnie Cole adds his piano talent some flavor to such jazz....Al Hirt seasons the sound w/ his special trademark horn pizazz....and Pete Fountain shows us clarinets aren't just for high school girls.
Creole and Zydeco are Louisiana "Cajun" based music genres more resonant along the lower Southwestern "bayou" areas between Baton Rouge and Lafayette. Evidently Canadian French flavored, the sound has added violin, string bass and accordion sounds.....with an ingenious instrument fashioned out from a used clothes washboard and dinner spoons.
Music albums from Louis Armstrong, Rockin Doopsie, Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown, The Neville Brothers--along with Charmaine Neville, Ronnie Cole, Pete Fountain and Al Hirt.....all that and more should round out some spicy music flavor....best served w/ a few drops of Tabasco sauce!!!
