Why do people bother to answer questions when the poster clearly knows they're being rude and inappropriate (like racist, sexist, otherwise ridiculous questions) rather than just ignoring them and letting them expire unanswered? Why waste time trying to explain how retarded they are?

Thank you all for your thoughtful answers (a light in the dark). I guess i just feel that all things need energy to flourish and to extend energy to those who abuse their ability (and right) to express and expose others to ignorance and hatred is an ill use of the energy I have to give the world. If asked in earnest, I would be more prone to trying to insight some sort of positive dialogue or offer some light/truth to the poster. However, when faced with someone who seems simply amused or entertained by insulting others, trying to evoke anger in others or simply trying to use this 'free' forum to unleash their own inner negativity, it first occurs to me to conserve my "energy" and allow those things to die. I may be taking this a bit too seriously, for sure. As pointed out, this is "infotainment", not an educational site or the best place for social commentary or socio-political discussion. I just find myself unable to EVER leave behind my need to be and remain conscientious.

You should do that for the sake of the audience. If people openly lie on me, I make it a point to put out the truth. Sure, the ones saying it may not care/change, but others listening may be impacted. Plus it is a way of showing that I am not afraid of them.

In a courtroom, defendants often don't take the stand in their own defense. While the judge tells the jury not to take that into account, they often do. If someone doesn't speak for themselves, they must be guilty as charged, or that is what people tend to think.

Because this site is infotainment, and a great majority of the people are either ignorant of their chosen topic, under the age of 16, bored, or just ****h*oles. At least I studied sociology and have a keen interested in philosophy.... :O)

I agree mostly and I just flag the racists but in certain cases I think it is important to align yourself with the race being persecuted.

I'm learning to.....its so hard not to respond to asinine statements. I try to reply only when I think the person is asking a genuine question and not trying to get a rise out of me....but sometimes I still do get caught up in their stupidity.

Sometimes it is less what they have asked and more where they are coming from. If you can read between the lines, you might be able to give someone an insight that they do not have because they are just angry and ranting!

Because ignorant racists/sexists waste their stupid points by asking garbage and I pick up two points for laughing at them.
