I am flying to Canada and back within a two week period so will need some good quality reading material to sustain me through two horrendously long flights.
I'm a bit over Jodi Piccoult at the moment and have read the Time Traveller's Wife, but those are an indication of my tastes. I also really like compelling true life stories and biographies.
Thanks for your suggestions!

Look for the life of Phoolan devi : Bandit queen
Phoolan was born in a little town in India, in one of the most poor and little apreciated castes. Since she was a little girl, she was constantly abused, raped, and considered less than any animal... (in one part of the history, she asks about that strange word "soh" because she doesnt understand what the word "love" means!!) one time she gets abducted by a band of jungle thieves, but eventually she becomes one of them... and the most feared bandit of all india! people start to think of her as a goddess, a cold blood killer or an example of the eternal struggle of woman battling for her rigths.
hope you like it... and sorry for my bad english!

Right now I'm reading Anne Frank Remembered by Miep Gies. But it's not very long. I advise you to read up on some famous historical people. You will learn alot and find them fascinating. Try the subfects of John Wilkes Booth, or Queen Elizabeth the First. All three are fascinating people!

The Narrow Road by Brother Andrew, also published under the name God's Smuggler. This is an autobiography that tells the story of a missionary who smuggles Bibles behind the iron curtain in the 1950-1970s, when this was a crime that was punishable by death. It's a "quick-read" (meaning you can read it very fast) and has a very inspirational message. It was very exciting and moving. I highly recommend it.

Take in a classic! If you haven't read The Good Earth (Pearl S. Buck) now is the time. If you appreciate good storytelling, even if you are not into Chinese settings, you will find it to be a page turner.
Other great sagas include East of Eden (Steinbeck), The Thorn Birds (McCollough), and Texas! (Michener)
