I was a Junior Network Administrator for a fortune 500 company mid 90's to early 2000. I turned my attention to another profession for some time and am looking to re-enter the IT field after completing my degree. In beginning to prepare my resume, I began a search for my former company. As it turns out, they are no longer in business under their previous name and have since changed businesses altogether. I've contacted their HR department and was told that they do not keep records after seven years. I want to list this experience on my resume, however there is no way for someone to verify that I did in fact work for them? What is the best way to address this in a resume and on an application.

What I have done is just report it as is - I too have worked for companies that have gone bankrupt (it was a common occurance in the late 1990s).

There is not much you can do about it - except to explain it when it comes up in an interview. Hopefully, you have things like certifications to back up your work.

Judy's advice is sound.

Of course, if you could find an old co-worker or supervisor, you could have them sign a letter of recommendation.

When possible, get a letter of recommendation from supervisors before you leave. I have an old letter in storage from an ex boss, the company is no longer in business. On top of that, he (the ex-boss) is homeless, living under a bridge somewhere.

Strange how in a flip of a second, you're not the underdog.

Just list it, and show your job duties like you would any other job, and don't worry about it. An interviewer can ask enough about the details of what you did to get a good idea if you know what you're talking about or not.

record the former employers call and then make an remark that the business enterprise/workplace closed, and employment information have been sent to ( ) and record the workplace the place they sent the employment information with. between the medical doctors could have stored the information of former workers. call the dr. workplaces and ask them the place they went so which you would be able to direct employers to the stunning call and get in touch with style of that workplace.
